Heartfelt Thank You!
Dear Friends,
We want to take the opportunity to once again extend our gratitude for your support of our recent wedding and honeymoon. It was very simple, elegant, and the best day of our lives.
The sunrise wedding in Hollywood Beach, Florida did not disappoint. We were right on the sand with beautiful waves gently lapping against the shore as we expressed our vows and formalized our union. It was a bit windy which made for some obstacles when setting up for some photographs. However, it was without a doubt a most memorable and beautiful ceremony. And yes, despite the fact it was a small ceremony, many of the traditions were kept. We had a cake that we cut right there on the shore, and we were able to save some for our 1-year anniversary. Additionally, Kathleen was not to be outdone. She looked first-rate gorgeous in a Camille la Vie white wedding gown. For the record, Kathleen had her mother’s wedding ring as something old, a beautiful headband as something new, a brooch from her sister that she affixed to her bouquet as something borrowed, and a very special handmade anklet made by her longtime treasured friend Noel as something blue. Oh yeah, and Joel looked pretty sharp too with a black suit, white shirt, custom cuff links and tie bar on a new blue tie.
Kathleen and Joel exchanged scripted vows with a little personal touch, as well as a traditional Irish blessing as part of the ceremony. Rings were also exchanged, after which Kathleen and Joel shared a very special slow dance on the sand before cutting some cake and toasting with the traditional champagne.
After getting back to their respective schools for a few days before the Thanksgiving break, we took a honeymoon to New Orleans, Louisiana. This was very special as Joel’s grandparents enjoyed their honeymoon in this vibrant city, and Kathleen has a connection to the city as well. We enjoyed a week learning about the history of the city on horse-drawn carriage, taking in proper Jazz music, exploring the Mississippi River on the last true steamboat, and enjoying the culinary delights that the city has to offer. We were very blessed to be able to experience and explore so much in the time we were there.
We have now come back to the reality of the northeast, back to school and work, and are enjoying married life in the NJ/NYC area. Kathleen is plugging away at New York University and continues to build her private voice studio while Joel is completing the first semester at Fairleigh Dickinson University. Our place feels more and more like home, especially with our little pup, Bella. We truly believe that home is where the heart is, and we are very fortunate to be at home with one another.
We are so grateful for the place that you have in our lives, and look forward to seeing you in the future. It is in that spirit that we are planning a get together in February at a place in New York City for everyone to come together and celebrate this joyous union. We will provide the cake! Please stay tuned and as soon as we lock the date, time, and location, we will send an update so that those who are able can come on by. Thank you for your generosity, support, and most of all, friendship. We could not have done it without you. We are so grateful and humbled. We will be in touch soon, and look forward to seeing you in the near future.
Always,
Kathleen and Joel Adams

OUR STORY....
This is a love story we could not have scripted if we tried. An established classical singer and university professor meets a military veteran with history as a research analyst and as a senior scuba instructor.
Kathleen and Joel met May 10, 2018 in Key Largo, FL, when Kathleen was adding yet another adventure to her ever growing resume of travels and accolades. While taking specialized scuba courses under Joel’s instruction, the two developed a fast friendship that was destined to blossom into the beautiful relationship it has since become.
The two have a distinct appreciation for their time spent at the Fish House restaurant in Key Largo, which, coincidentally, is where they claim they had their first date on May 17, 2018. It is here that they spent many hours sharing stories and laughing endlessly as they got to know each other. While their time in Key Largo had to come to an end, they were determined to stay in touch. It wasn’t too long before Joel knew that she was his “Forever” girl.
Through texting, phone calls, and video chats, the two were unequivocally inseparable. Over the following ten months, Kathleen would travel to visit Joel in Key Largo, and Joel would travel to New Jersey to visit Kathleen. In early 2019 the back and forth had finally met its match. Joel was ready to transition to be with Kathleen. In March of 2019 Joel moved up to the northeast, convinced that there was no other option.
Ever since, the two have lived together in northeastern New Jersey. Kathleen continues to teach at New York University while Joel is pursuing his Doctoral degree in Communication.
The beautiful couple is set to wed in November of 2019 at an intimate beach wedding, and then, due to their school schedules, enjoy a honeymoon a week later. A reception is planned to be held in December/January in New York City for friends to come together and celebrate this joyous occasion.
As Kathleen and Joel are not ‘registered’ with any retailer, people have been asking how they can help celebrate. As Joel is working towards his PhD in Communication, and Kathleen continues to chip away at her student loans, we do not want to put ourselves into an abyss of debt. This GoFundMe page has been developed for people who have been impacted by Kathleen and Joel to show their support and be a part of this special moment in their lives. ANYTHING (no matter how small) you can contribute will help!!! If you can spread the word, it would be much appreciated!
