As many of you know 2018 was the year of scuba for me!  I was certified in January and became an instructor in August.  Learning to scuba is one of the coolest activities I have done and I LOVE it!!  So now, I want to share this with all my friends and anyone who wants to become certified!   I can also teach more advanced classes (see below) for those that want to continue to learn more about this AWESOME life transforming sport.
If you want to learn to dive, I am teaching at Blue Water Divers (www.bluewaterdivers.com) in NJ on Sundays and Mondays. The confined water portion of the open water class usually takes 2 days and about 4-5 hours each day.  We can mix and match the dates/times that work for you.

If you are coming from NYC, you would take the 163 bus to the Passaic Street & Rochelle Avenue and walk about 7 minutes to the dive shop.  Go to www.njtransit.com and put Rochelle Avenue, New Jersey in the search bar.  You can also call NJ Transit for more info as well:  973-275-5555

The PADI (www.padi.com) scuba class will be offered at a discount for $395 (regularly $595).  There is also a 15% discount if you buy the standard equipment at Blue Water Divers.  The four pieces you will need to get started consist of the mask, snorkel, open heel fins and boots.  We can get you all the equipment you need the day of your first class.  You can use your own if you have your equipment already!
Your open water class will consist of:

PRIOR TO MEETING:
  • taking the online course (about 12 hours)
  • passing the online quizzes and final exam

IN PERSON:
  • taking a knowledge review quiz
  • pool work to complete the scuba skills

On day one, you will take the knowledge review and we will go over the quiz together.  Then we will head to the pool and start the skills.  The pool sessions will be broken up into two days and will take about 4-5 hours each.

Please email me at:  mezzomyrick@gmail.com if you want to jump in a scuba class with me!!  I can not wait to dive with you!
TO BECOME OPEN WATER CERTIFIED:
After you master your skills in the pool/confined water, we can plan a trip to the ocean and complete your open water certification there.  The skills that you perform in the (open water) ocean/dutch springs consist of doing the same skills you practiced in the pool.  After you pass your ocean dive skills, you will become open water certified!!

CERTIFICATIONS BEYOND OPEN WATER:
If you want to learn more scuba skills, I can meet you at your intended destination and we can do whatever certifications you would like to take.  I love to travel and dive in new places!!  Whatever classes you want to take, we can plot your ocean dives and find a destination what would be amazing for you!!

If  you want to stay more local to finish your certification we can head over to Dutch Springs in PA (www.dutchspring.com) and do your open water dives over a Saturday/Sunday weekend.  This would consist of an overnight stay to do your two days of open water skills.  We can plot this together was well.

The dates I am able to teach open water confined pool skills are by appointment only.  Call/Text to set up your session.

August onward TBA...

Generally the classes will run 11:30am-4:30pm.  They do not need to be consecutive.  We can mix and match the two days that work for you and adjust the times as well!  Let me know which two days will work for you and we can plot out your classes.

PROJECT AWARE!!

Hello ALL!

I will be doing a Skype class that will bring attention and knowledge to everyone how to help our suffering planet. By tuning in, partaking in the class (about an hour), and and completing the knowledge review, you will receive a PADI certification card. The contribution that you put towards your card helps give money to projects to help save our oceans. The cost will be $60 total. I will also be willing to give an extra 30 minutes to a paid 60 minute voice lesson to help offset the cost.  :)

I plan to hold the class via group Skype on Sunday-October 13 at 10am.  Please let me know if you can participate?

Please also print out the items below and scan back to ma after the class. Also to prepare, please read the Our World Our Planet (under the Fish ID tab).  Thank you!!
